Pictou County Haunting – The Doctor’s House
It has been said that this old house in Thorburn was originally built for a doctor as the hospital. It had a maid’s quarters, a staircase to the kitchen, and a secret passageway through a closet!
A woman who lived at the property recalled that one morning the doorknob began to turn and shake as if someone were trying to open it. She bravely asked ‘’Who’s there?” but received no answer. With her hand shaking nervously, she opened the door and discovered her ‘’missing ‘’cat who in no way could have gotten into this locked room. Apparently, the radio dial would turn by itself to a classical music station as well. It would seem that “someone” enjoyed that genre of music.
Years later, another family had odd experiences in the house as well, so they called in a Medium. They were quickly told that a man was on the stairs who opened doors, the house contained many ghost cats and a young girl. A ghost dog was there as well but would never venture upstairs. I wonder why not.
Most recently, Nicole Fraser decided to buy her former childhood home. One seemingly ordinary day she noticed her little girl playing with another child. Nancy recalled a little girl in a white dress with dark hair she had also seen as a child growing up here.
Toys fly across the room and padlocked doors open….the stories continue and so do the hauntings.
