Always Spread Joy
Meet Shaun – Always Spread Joy   While strolling along Provost Street in New Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, I suddenly found myself standing in front of “Shaun”. The large front windows of this eclectic event venue were interestingly decorated and just invited me to peek inside.   Suddenly, the front door flew open and a fella with a huge warm smile greeted me, “Hello, how are you today? Can I help you?” Blushing I replied, “Not really. I was just walking by and had to peek in your inviting-looking space.” He smiled, “Well, I am glad you like it. My name is Shaun, come on in!” I quickly scooted through the open door, stopped, and gazed all around in awe. “Wow, this is an amazing space, quite magical!” His eyes lit up, “Well, thank you very much. I just love it too. I am currently getting ready for our annual Christmas show. There will be several incredible musicians belting out some tunes, including me,” he laughed, “It will be a night of music, and fun.” I could easily envision this room filled with smiles a mile wide as folks mingle while the play band plays.   It wasn’t long into our conversation, I quickly learned that having fun and bringing happiness to folks is one of the things Shaun loves the most. In addition to being a registered massage therapist, he is a performer, singer, and entertainer. “I love to see folks enjoying themselves. “Life is short, and you should spend it with people and in places that allow you to feel alive and have as much joy as possible.” I nodded and smiled, “You are so right.” We chatted for several more minutes before I left feeling more upbeat, alive, and full of joy for this chance encounter. It reminded me that we can all do something in our everyday lives to bring joy to others. Whether it is offering a friendly hello to someone you walk past on the sidewalk, holding open a door, or offering a kind compliment.   I think this quote by Maya Angelou sums it up nicely, “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Spread joy – pass it on
